✊🏾 August is Black Business Month!

August is Black Business Month, a time to honor and uplift Black entrepreneurs who build community, drive economic equity, and inspire future generations.

Founded in 2004, Black Business Month highlights the profound legacy of Black entrepreneurship, from Reconstruction-era Black Wall Streets to today’s trailblazing local founders. Supporting Black-owned businesses isn’t just about purchases, it’s an investment in cultural heritage, economic justice, and community resilience.

🛍️ Must-Visit Black-Owned Businesses in Vegas

Southern Nevada’s first cereal bar, offering endless combinations of cereals, dairy and non‑dairy milks, milkshakes, and toppings. Founded by Chris and Jessica Burns, it’s been featured on Shark Tank and is a fun, nostalgic treat.

Eco‑friendly, Black woman–owned candle company crafting scents inspired by craft cocktails, offering candle‑making experiences and toxin‑free products that make perfect gifts or keepsakes.

The Analog Dope Store (bookstore & record shop)

Founded in 2022 by Rachelle and Cierra “Charlie Muse” Luster, this Black women and LGBTQ‑owned Arts District gem blends curated African diaspora bookstore selections with a vinyl record shop featuring jazz, soul, R&B, hip‑hop, reggae, and more.

Opened in November 2023 in the Westside Kingdom Plaza, this is Las Vegas’s first Black‑owned bookstore in over a decade. Co-founded by Tamara Shiloh and Carol Santiago, it offers diverse genres face‑forward children’s books, social justice, STEM, LGBTQ, Black history, graphic novels, and more that is designed to foster inclusive, educational spaces.

📚 Why Supporting Local Black Businesses Matters

Black-owned businesses play a vital role in closing the racial wealth gap, creating jobs, and enriching community identity. When you shop or engage locally, economic impact stays in neighborhoods, empowering generations and strengthening civic vitality.

Supporting these entrepreneurs means uplifting legacies and helping build equitable futures.

🌟 How You Can Show Up This August

  • Visit these unique businesses: grab treats, records, books, candles, or vintage fashion.

  • Share your favorites on social media, tag the businesses, and amplify their stories.

  • Attend local pop‑ups or events featuring Black entrepreneurs and creatives.

  • Learn and share the history and impact of Black businesses in Las Vegas.

Black Business Month is the perfect time to explore and fall in love with the creativity and community impact of Black-owned businesses across Las Vegas. Let’s celebrate their resilience, innovation, and lasting influence together. 🖤
