Hey Elevate Fam,
June is here, which means it's time to kick off a month filled with community, connection, and plenty of reasons to celebrate. ๐ As Pride Month begins, we're excited to continue creating spaces where everyone feels welcome, supported, and empowered to be themselves. ๐ Pride Month: Celebrating Community, History, and Visibility
Happy Pride Month, Elevate Fam! ๐
Every June, communities around the world come together to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, honor its history, and continue the fight for equality. Pride Month traces its roots back to the Stonewall Uprising of 1969, when members of New York City's LGBTQ+ community stood up against police harassment and discrimination. What began as a protest became a global movement advocating for visibility, acceptance, and equal rights.
While Pride is often associated with parades, rainbow flags, and celebrations, it is also a reminder of the countless activists who fought for the freedoms many enjoy today and the work that still remains. Pride is both a celebration and a call to create a world where everyone can live authentically and safely.

๐ณ๏ธโ๐ Support LGBTQ+ Owned Businesses
Pride doesn't end when the events are over. One of the best ways to support the community year-round is by supporting LGBTQ+ owned businesses right here in Las Vegas:
๐ Writer's Block Bookstore โ An inclusive independent bookstore and coffee shop in the Arts District.
๐ The LGBTQ Center of Southern Nevada โ Providing resources, advocacy, support groups, and volunteer opportunities for the local LGBTQ+ community.
๐ The Fruit Loop District โ Home to several LGBTQ+ owned and LGBTQ+ friendly businesses, bars, and entertainment venues that have helped shape Las Vegas' queer community for decades.
๐ How You Can Support Pride Month
โข Attend local Pride events and celebrations
โข Support LGBTQ+ owned businesses
โข Learn about LGBTQ+ history and advocacy movements
โข Speak up against discrimination and support inclusive spaces
โข Amplify LGBTQ+ voices and creators
Pride is about more than a single month. It's about creating communities where everyone feels welcomed, respected, and celebrated for who they are. This June, let's continue building a Las Vegas where diversity isn't just acceptedโit's celebrated. ๐
๐พ Small Business Spotlight: Paws In Charge

๐พ Small Business Spotlight: Paws In Charge
Sometimes you discover a great small business completely by accident, and that's exactly what happened when a few of us stopped by Paws In Charge in Southwest Las Vegas. From the moment we walked in, we were blown away by how friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable the team was. It was clear they weren't just selling pet products, they genuinely care about helping people and their pets live healthier, happier lives.
Located at 4542 S Grand Canyon Dr., Suite 125, Paws In Charge is a locally owned pet supply store founded by husband and wife duo Eric and Erika (how cute!), who were inspired to open the business after adopting their dog, Maui, in 2019. Frustrated by impersonal service and confusing product choices at big-box pet stores, they set out to create something different: a place where pet parents feel supported and educated, not sold to.
As Eric puts it, "We do not sell to customers but rather educate them on the benefits of the products we offer to help them make sound decisions." That philosophy shines through in every interaction.
What impressed us most was how much intention they put into everything they do. They carefully curate their products, offer a 100% return policy so pet owners can try new things without worry, and focus on creating a personalized experience for every customer. Their mission is simple but powerful: "Help people and pets live amazing lives by being kind, courteous, respectful, knowledgeable, and caring."
When asked what he's most proud of, Eric shared something that really resonated with us: "I decided my quality of life would not be driven by a dollar amount, but rather the people I get to interact with and hopefully impact in some positive way." We felt that passion firsthand.
If you're a pet owner, or just love supporting local businesses that lead with heart, we highly recommend stopping by and saying hello.
