Elevate Diversity May Newsletter

Making friends as an adult is hard. We’re here to make it easier AND way more fun.

Hey Elevate Fam (and a big welcome to all our new friends!) 👋

We’ve had a wave of new folks join us recently, so we wanted to take a minute to reintroduce ourselves.

Elevate Diversity is more than just a social calendar, it’s a space for professionals, creatives, changemakers, and good humans to come together, build real connections, and give back. We host events that are fun, meaningful, and inclusive because we believe that community shouldn’t just be talked about, it should be felt.

And here’s what community feels like to us:

It’s seeing the same familiar faces again and again, at game night, or at brunch, or volunteering together 6am on a Saturday. It’s sharing stories over a glass of wine, laughing about the week, asking “how’s work been?” and really meaning it. It’s choosing to show up, even on the days when small talk feels like a big lift.

Because over time, those little moments become friendships. And those friendships? That’s what we’re all here for. ✨

Whether it’s your first event or your fifteenth, we can’t wait to see you out there.

Let’s keep showing up—for ourselves, for each other, and for the kind of community we all deserve.

With love,

The Elevate Team 🧡

It’s AANHPI Heritage Month, ohana! 🌸🌊

May is all about honoring the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities. Las Vegas offers a plethora of ways to immerse yourself in AANHPI heritage. Here are some highlights:

🎉 Lei Day Parade – Experience the vibrant Pacific Islander culture at the Lei Day Parade in Downtown Summerlin on May 1. Learn More Here.

🥁 Kaminari Taiko in Concert – Feel the rhythm with a powerful Taiko drumming performance at the Clark County Library on May 19 at 2 p.m. Learn More Here.

🎨 AANHPI Art Exhibits – Explore diverse artworks by AANHPI artists at various Las Vegas-Clark County Library District branches throughout May. Learn More Here.

🍜 Savor AANHPI Cuisine – Delight your taste buds at local favorites like Lotus of Siam, Tim Ho Wan, and Aloha Specialties. Learn More Here.

💡 Fun Fact: Las Vegas just got its own Filipino Town! 🇵🇭 In March 2024, Clark County officially designated the area near Maryland Parkway and Desert Inn as a cultural district celebrating Filipino heritage, complete with new signage and big community pride. Learn More Here.

Let’s celebrate the diverse cultures that enrich our community. Attend events, try new cuisines, and honor the stories that shape our shared history.

It’s Jewish American Heritage Month, mishpacha! ✡️

This May, we're also celebrating the culture, history, and contributions of Jewish Americans across the U.S., and right here in our Vegas community. From food to many events being held across the valley, here’s how you can tap in and learn more:

🥯 Grab a Bite at Saginaw’s Delicatessen – From sky-high pastrami sandwiches to fresh bagels, this Vegas staple brings classic Jewish deli vibes straight to the Strip. 👉 Saginaw’s Delicatessen at the Circa!

🎶 Celebrate at Jewish Nevada Community Events – Food trucks, music, and family-friendly activities honoring Jewish culture in a big way. 👉 Check out the Jewish Nevada Community Calendar Here!

🕍 Visit Temple Beth Sholom – Founded in 1946, it’s the oldest Jewish congregation in Nevada, offering services, history, and community connections. 👉 bethsholomlv.org

💡 Fun Fact: Despite being less than 2% of the U.S. population, Jewish Americans have won over 20% of the U.S. Nobel Prizes in fields like science, literature, and economics. 👉 Read more

That said, we can’t fully honor Jewish American Heritage Month without acknowledging the ongoing conflict in Israel and Palestine. The heartbreak and complexity of this crisis have touched many, whether directly or indirectly, and we know it’s been heavy for so many in our community.

No matter where you land on the issue, we encourage you to lead with empathy, check in on each other, and hold space for care and compassion. Elevate has always been, and will continue to be, a space for all backgrounds. This month is a reminder that our diversity is our strength, especially in times that call us to stand together.

Our hearts are with anyone impacted. We see you, and we’re here for you.  🧡

See ya next month!
